Sujatha Rao

Sujatha is a Partner at Quasar Legal. She started her career in Chennai in 1994 at Rangarajan & Prabhakaran, Advocates, a full-service law firm and moved on to consulting firms with stints at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young. Her main practice area there related to legal advice on setting up businesses in India for international clients under the foreign direct investment rules and regulations. During this period, she also spent a few months in the UK on a Chevening Scholarship for Young Professionals from the British Council to study English Corporate and Commercial Law and got a flavor of working at an international law firm by interning at Masons, in London. 

Subsequently, she worked with leading law firms Udwadia, Udeshi and Berjis in Mumbai and Dua Associates in Gurgaon where she gained significant exposure in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity for both emerging and established businesses. 

After moving to Bangalore, she worked with a start-up in the hospitality and logistics sectors where she negotiated and closed various kinds of commercial contracts including real estate contracts for setting up and running business hotels and corporate residences. 

She has also advised high net worth individuals (HNIs) on matters ranging from wills, trusts, investment agreements and other commercial contracts related to wealth management services. 

She enjoys photography, organic gardening and embroidery in her spare time. She also mentors law students as part of her association with an NGO in Bangalore.
